Could Game Of Thrones' Jason Momoa Be Joining The Guardians Of The Galaxy?

Chris Pratt is set to play Star-Lord in James Gunn's upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy, but there's still plenty of work left to be done in the casting department before cameras start to roll. Marvel Studios still needs to find actors to play the roles of Drax The Destroyer, Gamora, Rocket Raccoon and Groot, and thus far rumors and short-lists have been practically non-existent. But now it seems that we may be skipping over the long speculation process, because there is now a report that the studio has already found its second cast member.

Latino-Review is claiming that inside sources close to the production have told them that Jason Momoa has been offered the part of Drax The Destroyer. While nothing is set in stone yet, apparently negotiations are on-going, with the actor's people having already sent the studio a counter offer for the role. The star is best known for his work on the small screen, playing Khal Drogo on the hit HBO series Game of Thrones and Ronon Dex om Stargate: Atlantis, but has had a bit of trouble getting his film career going. In 2011 he starred in the 2011 reboot of Conan The Barbarian - which was a notable flop - and just a couple weeks ago he was seen by very few playing the villain in Walter Hill's Bullet To The Head.

For those unfamiliar with Drax's back story, he was originally a human named Arthur Douglas who was killed along with the rest of his family during an attack by the Thanos (the big-chinned purple dude seen halfway through the credits of The Avengers). But when an entity known as Kronos needed a warrior to fight against the Mad Titan, he brought Arthur's spirit back to life and put it in a more powerful alien body.

Could this be the turn around that Momoa's career needs? Do you think he's a solid choice to play Drax? Let us know in the comments below!

UPDATE: THR writer Borys Kit has reached out to his sources that say that Momoa has indeed tested for the part of Drax The Destroyer, but an offer has not yet been made and negotiations have not yet started.
